What I Learned Bouncing From Job to Job

I haven’t held the same job for more than a year and a half — I never got fired, but long story short, my life has been in constant transition since I graduated high school. I have learned a lot about myself. Bouncing from job to job has its advantages and disadvantages.

The Good

  1. Starting a new job gets smoother. I remember being incredibly nervous to start lifeguarding, my first job, but by the time I started my last post, there were no nerves. Because I knew it would take a few days for me to become comfortable and a few weeks for it to become the new normal.
  2. Learning a new job becomes less daunting. A job usually isn’t hard; it just requires mastering multiple tasks. My learning curve has shortened, and I am more patient with myself when I start a new job. I also don’t jump as fast to prove myself. I have learned that being consistent is going to be better than me going above and beyond.
  3. I don’t worry about finding a new job. Getting jobs has always been easy for me. I got my last post by asking the owner of the gym if I could work there. Getting a full-time job has always been a little harder; technically, I have only had one. But I always know I am going to find another place to work. Is it…
