A Chapter by Chapter Review of Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

The subtitle of Girl, Stop Apologizing is “A Shame-Free Plan For Embracing and Achieving Your Goals,” so I approached the book as encouragement for entrepreneurs. It is for women who want to start businesses and make money. The second skill Hollis suggests is “confidence.”

The Good

“Confidence is the belief that you can count on yourself — that you trust your gut in the place you find yourself in.” (167)

“Confidence is a skill.” (167)

Merriam-Webster defines confidence as “a feeling or consciousness of one’s powers or of reliance on one’s circumstances” or “faith or belief that one will act in the right, proper, or effective way.” Merriam-Webster defines skill as “a learned power of doing something competently, a developed aptitude or ability.”

I don’t think many people understand that you can learn to be confident. I also don’t think many people recognize that they have a confidence problem. They might think they are shy or humble when they need to believe in themselves!
