A Chapter by Chapter Review of Didn’t See That Coming by Rachel Hollis

As I understood, this book was about surviving grief. The subtitle of the book is “putting life back together when your world falls apart.” But upon further examination, I discovered the audience for Didn’t See That Coming is anyone who has experienced hard times. The inside flap says, “You don’t need a catastrophic event to appreciate the good things in your life.”

Hollis goes through the who, what, when, where, and why of grieving. The best section is the how; Hollis encourages her readers to define their how and take steps to heal. “How here is up to you, because healing is a solo mission, my friends.” pg. 58

The problem is Hollis says that the answer is inside us. I don’t know about you, but I don’t trust my feelings. I’m not going to rely solely on myself for my healing. The tools around me are going to be just as instrumental in my recovery as I am.
