Didn’t See That Coming | Prologue
A Chapter by Chapter Review of Didn’t See That Coming by Rachel Hollis
I think most people agree with me when I say Hollis could have released this book as it was, no need to discuss her divorce yet. She announced the split in June and Didn’t See That Coming dropped in September. The public would have understood the need for privacy in this situation. It’s okay to wait and do another book later.
As I understood, this book was about surviving grief. The subtitle of the book is “putting life back together when your world falls apart.” But upon further examination, I discovered the audience for Didn’t See That Coming is anyone who has experienced hard times. The inside flap says, “You don’t need a catastrophic event to appreciate the good things in your life.”
I believe grief comes in many forms; it depends on what you are grieving. The loss of a loved one is different from the loss of a job. Grieving for a loved one’s loss is different than suffering for your own. Grief over an event that just happened is different than grieving over an event long past. I’m not a grief expert, but I think authors need to pick a category to write about when it comes to grief. As with any Hollis book, the audience is too broad.
