Book Review: The Sales Survival Handbook by Ken Kupchik
Considering my job (personal trainer), I need a lot of education and training in sales. My company will give me some clients, but a majority of them I need to find on my own. I picked up a few sales books to assist me with the process. I was drawn towards The Sales Survival Handbook because it looked funny and entertaining as well as educational. Ken Kupchik did not disappoint.
I will give one disclaimer: This book is meant for a traditional sales job, not necessarily a personal trainer selling training packages, but I gleaned some great advice from it. I split up my review into helpful and unhelpful sections because some advice was not geared toward me.
According to a quiz in The Sales Survival Handbook I was born to sell, though I would say I fit better in the “could make a living in sales” category. I threw out a question or two because a personal trainer will never live off energy drinks and potato chips from the vending machine as a traditional salesperson might. I still appreciated the quiz, because I struggle with imposter syndrome and often second guess whether this is the right industry for me. The more reassurance I get, the better!
