15 Ways to be Consistent
Everyone wants to accomplish something: get back in shape, spend less money, eat healthier, drink less, spend more time with friends and family, read more, learn something new, etc. But we think it is unattainable because the goal is so big. Running a marathon is exhausting. Spending less money is difficult. Changing your unhealthy habits is not fun. We don’t understand that with consistency, we can achieve anything.
I have always had a problem being consistent. I do great for a while; then, I get burnt out, sick, or just tired. I thought I didn’t have enough willpower! I needed to have more motivation and have more self-control. But that is wrong. Being consistent is more than just resolution.
Here are some ways to become more consistent.
1. Make a Plan. (Really, make a few plans)
Spell out what you are doing. Include when you are going to do it, where you are going to do it, why you are doing it, and how you are going to do it. After you know what you are doing, you can break it down into smaller goals, plan out your day, set aside time to work and fall into a routine.
Plan to make your goals a priority. Don’t work on it in your free time; work on it before you do anything else. One easy way to stay consistent is to work toward your goals before you do anything else in the day. Forget about cleaning or fixing the sink. Your goals are your primary focus now, so make it a priority.
